What
is a Boomerang device? |
|
The
Boomerang is a wireless-based tracking device used to
track stolen vehicles and provides automatic theft notification.
Since it utilizes the GSM wireless network, stolen vehicles
can be located everywhere, even if they are inside buildings,
in shipping containers or underground parking lots.
|
|
What
is the success rate of the Boomerang device? |
|
Our
system enjoys one of the highest recovery rates in the
industry, with an average of $100,000 a day in recoveries,
and has received the support of national insurance companies
and law enforcement authorities.
Since
1999, we have successfully recovered over 3,000 vehicles
and other assets valued at over $150 million in total
including incidentals.

What
is Boomerang Tracking’s recovery guarantee? |
|
If
we do not recover your stolen vehicle, we give you a replacement
Boomerang unit and pay for your service fees for as long
as you own your new vehicle or refund you the price of
the Boomerang unit including installation and all service
fees. (Additional terms and conditions apply; please refer
to the Service
Agreement). |
|
Since
I do not know where my Boomerang unit is located in the
vehicle, and I have never seen it, how can I be sure that
it is functional? |
|
Once
your Boomerang unit is installed, it is active. Boomerang
Tracking receives a report if the device is not functioning
properly and will notify you to that effect. |
|
What
happens in case my vehicle is stolen? |
|
-
The Boomerang Security Central receives a signal and
vehicle tracking starts immediately;
-
The Boomerang tracking team will attempt to notify
either you or the next authorized contact person you
selected on your service agreement;
-
A police report number is required in order to return
the stolen property; you or the authorized contact
person must obtain a report number from the local
authorities
-
At the same time, the track will start and once the
vehicle is found, the tracking team will contact the
police and advise them of its location. The police
will arrive and then contact you or your authorized
person that the vehicle has been found.
|
 |
|
Why
don't you provide your customers with a sticker, which
would warn potential thieves that the vehicle is equipped
with a Boomerang unit? |
|
Boomerang
Tracking's success is attributable, in part, to the fact
that no one can tell where the device is installed. It
can be hidden in various undisclosed locations in the
vehicle. If we would put a sticker on the vehicle of our
clients, thieves may be tempted to look for the device
and dismantle or cause damage to the vehicle. |
|
What
is the Boomerang unit's operating range? If my vehicle
is in an area not covered by a wireless zone, how do you
proceed? |
|
The
Boomerang is functional anywhere throughout North America.
If the vehicle is in a wireless 'dead zone', our technology
still allows us to locate the vehicle with accuracy. |
|
What
happens if I change vehicles or if I sell my vehicle? |
|
The
Boomerang unit is transferable to either a different vehicle
or a new owner. It is important that you let us know about
any changes that you intend to make by contacting our
customer service department at 1.877.777.8722. |
|
Can
I have a Boomerang unit installed in my motorcycle? |
|
We
do not recommend the installation of the Boomerang device
in these types of vehicles. While larger vehicles offer
a multitude of places where a Boomerang device may be
hidden, smaller vehicles offer only a few possible locations,
compromising its security. |
|
May
I have access to my car’s location via the Internet?
|
|
At
the present time this feature is not available. Our
key focus is the recovery of stolen vehicles. We will
only initiate tracking procedures once you have reported
the theft to law enforcement authorities. This policy
is in place to protect our customers’ privacy. |
|
Can
you monitor people with the Boomerang unit? |
|
We
do not, under any circumstances, monitor individuals. |
|
How
is Boomerang Solution different from OnStar? |
|
Unlike
OnStar and other GPS factory installed systems, the Boomerang
Solution utilizes the GSM wireless network for tracking,
enabling the recovery of stolen assets even underground
and inside containers. The unit is not installed on the
production line but in your vehicle by a certified technician
after production, making the unit difficult to discover. |
|
How
is Boomerang Solution different from LoJack? |
|
Unlike
LoJack, the Boomerang Solution has dedicated tracking
teams that utilize the GSM cellular networks to recover
your stolen assets even underground and inside containers.
The unit is tested regularly and our Security Central
is in contact with both the customer and the tracking
team to facilitate a speedy recovery. |
|
Does
the Boomerang unit use GPS - is it like GPS? |
|
No,
the Boomerang unit utilizes the wireless GSM networks
and our own non-restrictive technology. This provides
us with a broader geographical scope in terms of asset
recovery than any other tracking system currently available.
Contrary to GPS, we are able to locate assets underground,
behind multiple walls or even positioned inside shipping
containers. |
|
How
long does it take to install a Boomerang device? |
|
The
installation is performed by professionally trained and
certified technicians and takes in most cases, between
1 - 1.5 hours. |
|
What
are Boomerang Tracking’s successes? |
|
Since
1999, the Boomerang devices have led to the recovery of
over $150 million in stolen assets and incidental recoveries
or approximately 3,000 vehicles and other assets. (Source:
Boomerang Tracking Inc.) |
|
If
my car is stolen and the thieves remove its battery, will
the Boomerang device still work? |
|
The
Boomerang device is equipped with a back-up battery that
will last several days. Should your vehicle’s battery
be disconnected, the Boomerang device will function on
its back-up battery, allowing our tracking team sufficient
time to locate the stolen vehicle. In general, our average
recovery time is about one hour*.
*Source: Boomerang Tracking Inc. |
|
What
is the lifespan of the Boomerang unit's battery and does
it have a back-up system? |
|
The
Boomerang device's battery has a 5-year lifespan. It is
important that you do not delay in replacing your Boomerang
device's battery, as a delay may inhibit our ability to
recover your vehicle in the event of a theft. |
|
What
will happen if I store my vehicle for a while? |
|
Should
you decide to store your vehicle, please notify our customer
service department at 514.234.8722 or toll-free at 1.877.777.8722.
Your Boomerang device is equipped with a back-up battery
that will last a few days. If your vehicle's battery dies,
we will continue to receive a signal for a certain period
of time. While your vehicle is in storage, service fees
will continue to be charged. |
|
Is
it necessary to have automobile insurance when my vehicle
is equipped with a Boomerang device? |
|
Even
with our impressive success rate, no tracking system is
perfect. For this reason, we strongly recommend that all
vehicles equipped with a Boomerang device be properly
insured. |
|
What
is your recovery rate? |
|
Our
system enjoys on of the highest recovery rates in the
industry, with an average of $100,000* a day in recoveries.
Since 1999, Boomerang Tracking Inc. has successfully recovered
over 3,000 vehicles and other assets valued at over $150
million in total including incidental recoveries.

|
How
does the Boomerang tracking team involve law enforcement? |
|
When
a vehicle equipped with a Boomerang device is stolen the
Boomerang unit itself will automatically send a signal
to our Security Central with its automatic-theft notification
feature. Once Boomerang Tracking has been notified of
the theft, clients MUST contact local law enforcement
authorities to obtain a police report number and advise
Boomerang Tracking, as this is required for tracking.
When the Boomerang tracking team successfully locates
the stolen vehicle, local law enforcement authorities
will be contacted by Boomerang Tracking to recover the
vehicle. |
 |
|
How
does the Boomerang Tracking Solution help law enforcement
authorities? |
|
Automobile
theft is a growing epidemic with 1 car stolen every 26
seconds in the U.S. Unfortunately, as theft continues
to rise, many law enforcement agencies find it increasingly
difficult to devote the necessary man-hours to effectively
tackle the problem. Boomerang Tracking offers substantial
benefits and support to law enforcement authorities by
effectively tracking and locating stolen vehicles, and
in many cases, leading to the discovery of chop-shops
and crime rings. |
