Stats

Some quick figures…

According to the latest figures from Statistics Canada, almost 1 in every 100 cars is stolen every year, or about 442 cars per day – that means a car disappears in Canada every 4 minutes! Even with advances in anti-theft devices, the theft rate has still increased by 44% since 1989.

Canada’s three largest provinces, Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, account for more than 75% of all cars stolen in Canada, while Canada’s three largest cities, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, accounted for over 42% of all vehicle thefts in 1998.

Export market on the upswing…

The auto export trade is big business for organized crime – Customs Canada estimates that more than 20,000 cars will be illegally exported this year alone!

Your peace of mind is secured with Boomerang Tracking; not only can the Boomerang device find your car quickly - usually in just under one hour - but its signal can penetrate shipping containers used to ship cars overseas.

Recovery rates plummet

The recovery rate of stolen vehicles has dropped substantially over the last decade, with Montreal police currently recovering only 45 percent of stolen vehicles, while the recovery rate in Toronto has dropped from 90 to 60 percent from 1991-1998.

This drop confirms that the number of thefts committed by joyriders is falling, and the number of thefts committed by professionals is on the rise - making the need for a Boomerang tracking device even more apparent.
