Boomerang Tracking Inc. (TSE:BMG), today announced the appointment of Mr. Timothy Flusche as Managing Director of its United States Operations. In his new position, he will bring proven experience in wireless telecommunications and vehicle security to the Company’s strategic business development in the United States.
With over 10 years experience in senior-level positions with both Clifford Electronics and Directed Electronics, in addition to his most recent tenure with AT&T; as an executive member, Mr. Flusche will be an asset in launching Boomerang in the United States. In his new role, his principal responsibilities will include realizing Boomerang Tracking’s business development vision and employing key personnel to ensure success and expediency in selling and distributing Boomerang in the United States during 2002. Mr. Flusche will negotiate contracts with distribution networks, develop insurer relationships, oversee operational logistics and supervise the implementation team during each rollout phase in this new market.
Boomerang Tracking recently announced that it had reached an agreement with Cingular Wireless LLC, the second largest wireless carrier in the United States. This agreement enables Boomerang to access Cingular’s extensive wireless network, paving the way for the sale and distribution of Boomerang’s tracking systems in the U.S.
This news follows a recent announcement that Boomerang Tracking’s R&D; team has successfully developed a tracking system that functions on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), the same platform used by Cingular Wireless. Coupled with the development of this new Boomerang, the wireless carrier agreement provides the Company with the opportunity to enter the American market.
Said Peter Lashchuk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boomerang Tracking: “With more than 210 million registered vehicles in the United States and over 8.7 million new vehicles sold every year, the U.S. market offers an unparalleled opportunity for the Company. With Mr. Flusche at the helm, we are well on the way to successfully entering this important new market.”
In Canada, Boomerang Tracking Systems have already led to the recovery of over 1,370 vehicles and other valuable assets, valued at approximately $68 million. The systems allow stolen assets to be recovered across North America.
