Boomerang Tracking (TSE :BMG) is proving that car thieves are in for another tough year as a number of valuable recoveries highlight the start of 2002 for the Montreal-based company.

Highlights from some recent recoveries in the month of January include:

-A thief in Chicoutimi, Quebec stole a truck cab and later a container full of aluminium goods from neighbouring businesses leading to an extended police chase. A police roadblock ended the ordeal to safely return the $350,000 in vehicles and merchandise to their owners.

-A theft led Boomerang’s tracking team to a chop shop in Montreal, leading to the recovery of a GMC 3500 pickup and a CASE 580 SL loader along with a large array of stolen parts. The same night, another theft lead trackers to three stolen vehicles and a stolen motorcycle hidden with a Boomerang-equipped Dodge Caravan. These two recoveries have a combined value of over $400,000.

-Two front-loaders valued at $230,000 were found in a Saint-Leonard, Quebec warehouse after being stolen from Riviere-des-Prairies, Quebec.
