Boomerang Tracking Inc. (TSX: BMG) marks off the final week of March with an impressive number of recoveries, valued at over $ 1.7 million, including incidentals.
Highlights of the week include the recovery of a stolen Chevrolet Silverado from an arena in Thetford Mines, Quebec that led Sûreté du Québec police on a chase down Highway 10. The chase concluded with police stopping the stolen vehicle with a roadblock and led to the arrest of one individual. This operation also led to the recovery of a stolen Hummer, which was not equipped with a Boomerang tracking device.
The in-house tracking team also tracked a stolen Honda Civic SiR from Sorel, Quebec, to a warehouse full of “chopped” automobile parts ready for resale on the black market. In collaboration with the Police de Chambly and Sûreté du Québec, the operation resulted in the recovery of enough vehicle parts and equipment to account for 44 other stolen vehicles.
In total, the week led to 65 recoveries valued at over $1.7 million dollars, with over $1 million of which was the result of incidental recoveries: vehicles not equipped with a Boomerang or Boomerang2 device.
“This past week highlights our continuous contribution to law and order”, commented Serge Laporte, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Boomerang Tracking. “Not only do our tracking devices help in resolving auto theft cases quickly and effectively with law enforcement authorities, but in many cases lead to entire auto theft operations.”
The Boomerang Tracking System utilizes leading-edge wireless technology to locate automobiles and heavy equipment anytime, anywhere in North America. To date, the system has led to the recovery of over 2,200 vehicles and heavy equipment valued at over $115 million including incidentals.
