In the evening hours of January 26, 2004, Boomerang Tracking Inc. received a call from a vehicle rental company in Whiterock, B.C. reporting the theft of a white 2003 Ford F-250. Within minutes of receiving the call, a tracking team was immediately dispatched to locate the vehicle, valued at approximately $42,000.
The Boomerang tracking team located the missing pick-up less than two hours later in a suburban street in Burnaby, B.C. and local authorities were immediately notified. At the scene, police took the driver into custody and also seized in excess of twenty stolen credit cards found in the vehicle.
The figures in B.C. are staggering, with more than 60 vehicle thefts reported every day. The number of stolen vehicles stolen annually rose to almost 25,000 in 2002, representing over 15% of all stolen vehicles in Canada. In addition, the total cost to ICBC policyholders last year to settle auto crime claims rose by 11 per cent to $167 million.
With tracking capabilities 24/7 across North America by an in-house tracking team, the Boomerang tracking device provides customers, both personal and corporate, with the most effective vehicle recovery solution on the market. Using proprietary wireless-based technology, the Boomerang Tracking System is the only solution designed exclusively for the recovery of stolen vehicles and is able to successfully locate stolen equipment located indoors, underground garages, and in shipping containers, typically within one hour.
