Thief Pick Wrong Camper To Steal

On February 13th 2000 a $35, 000 camper was stolen from "Highlite Truck Accessories” in the 5600 block Landmark Way Surrey. Suspects entered the fenced compound and stole the 11 foot "Bigfoot " camper.

Not known to the thieves the camper was equipped with a "Boomerang Stolen Vehicle Recovery System" (basically it's electronic tracking device). Within 1 hour of the camper being discovered missing on Monday morning the unit was pinpointed to an address in Hope B.C.

Supported with a search warrant and assistance from the Hope RCMP, members of the Auto Theft Task Force searched a residence situated in the 20, 000 block Beacon Rd. This is a residential area and the property in question is a one acre lot with a large enclosed garage at the rear of the property. Not only was the stolen camper recovered but also a $5000 ATV stolen from Alberta was recovered.

No one way home at ,but sufficient evidence was obtained which we believe may support criminal charges against one male suspect.
